Starting with January 2018, “Ion Luca Caragiale” National College, one of the most prestigious high schools in Romania, is equipped with its own meteorological station. This station can be used by the students to perform measurements and research, novel activities that can become true passions in time.
The initiative for installing and commissioning such equipment belongs to the high school’s Physics professor, Mrs. Daniela Stoica, and TehnoINSTRUMENT, the sponsor of this project.
The meteorological station includes sensors for determining wind speed and direction, ambient temperature, atmospheric pressure, relative humidity, rain quantity and solar radiation. These sensors were installed in the near vicinity of the high school’s training field, while the station’s control unit, which displays and logs the measured values, is installed in the Physics laboratory located on the first floor of the high school.
This sort of initiative can extend to educational institutions all over the country and can help expanding the overall skill set of the secondary cycle students.
