Air quality is a topic more often debated by the broad audience, authorities, public institutions and private enterprises. One of our company’s expertise domain is air quality monitoring, therefore we are getting more and more involved in this type of projects. This is the exact reason for which we attended, as Main Partner, at the Air Quality and Odour Management Conference held in Predeal on 7th-8th of November 2019.
The conference set as objectives topics such as: informing and raising awareness of the participants about the importance of air quality monitoring, fighting against pollution and involving the main industry players, as well as specialized institutions, in the task of controlling and improving air quality.
Amongst the participants, there were regional and national Environmental Protection Agencies members, Petroleum-Gas University of Ploiesti professors, OMV Petrom, Petrotel Lukoil, Rompetrol Rafinare, Dambovita County Council and National Meteorological Administration representatives.
Air quality management in Prahova county, emission data logging, handling and processing, odour discomfort minimization in refineries influence areas, good practices from the European legislation and the involvement of the civil society in the fight against air pollution were just a few of the subject that were presented during the conference.
One main moment of the conference was the presentation that our colleague Sebastian Codescu, Technical Director at TehnoINSTRUMENT, gave on the topic of Equipment for air quality monitoring. Gas pollutants analysis versus odour monitoring. The proposed technical solutions and case studies have proved to be of high importance for the attenders, considering the number of questions from their side and the follow-up discussions.
The event was an important step in the direction that the civil society, private enterprises and public authorities must follow in order to efficiently involve in the air quality protection. Prahova county has a lot of challenges concerning this, but it also has a great potential to become a model of good practice for the entire country.
